Mr. Spike connects to your FreeStyle Libre 2 & 3 CGM in real time via Nightscout — the trusted open-source diabetes data platform used by hundreds of thousands of people with diabetes worldwide.
To enable the live CGM connection inside Mr. Spike, you need an active Nightscout Pro account, billed directly by Nightscout at €4.99/month. This is a separate payment to a third party — not to Mr. Spike.
You do not need Nightscout Pro to use Mr. Spike. Without it, Mr. Spike works fully with manual glucose entry — all rescue plans, the AI, and every other feature work exactly the same. Nightscout Pro only adds the convenience of automatic live readings.

Do I need a credit card for the free trial?
No. You can start the 14-day free trial with no credit card. You'll only be asked for payment details if you decide to subscribe after the trial ends.
What happens when my free trial ends?
You'll be prompted to choose a plan (Monthly or Annual). If you don't subscribe, you'll lose access to Pro features. Your data is never deleted — you can re-subscribe any time and pick up right where you left off.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel directly through your iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future billing. You'll keep access until the end of your current billing period.
Is Nightscout Pro required to use Mr. Spike?
No. Nightscout Pro (€4.99/mo, billed by Nightscout) is only needed for real-time CGM data from FreeStyle Libre. Every other feature — rescue plans, AI, timer, insights — works fully with manual glucose entry.
How is Nightscout Pro billed?
Nightscout Pro is a completely separate subscription billed directly by Nightscout — not by Mr. Spike. You manage it independently on the Nightscout website. The two subscriptions are independent of each other.
Can I switch between Monthly and Annual?
Yes. You can switch at any time through your iPhone's Subscription settings. If you upgrade to Annual mid-month, Apple will prorate the difference automatically.
Is there a student or family discount?
Not currently — but given how affordable the pricing already is, we wanted to keep it simple. If you'd like to suggest a discount tier, reach out to us. We're always listening.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your data stays safe. You can re-subscribe at any time and everything will be exactly as you left it. If you want to permanently delete your data, go to Settings → My Account → Delete Account.
